Christmas Felt Craft Kits for Kids

Christmas Holiday felt craft kits children kids

We make lots of things from felt because it is a fun, easy and inexpensive material to work with. Not all children love sewing however and because of that I've found out a couple of fun no-sew felt crafting kits that look like great projects for kids to complete.

You don't even have to worry about the mess of glues and adhesives because these are peel and stick projects too. These make great ideas for the long winter run up to the Holiday season and also good gift ideas for creative and crafty children to enjoy and have a go at. Let's take a look.

Alex Toys are well known for making fun and affordable toys for children and we've enjoyed many of them ourselves. This one is to make a banner to hang up as a Christmas decoration. There are pre cut felt shapes and then matching self adhesive felt stickers that are used to decorate each one. This activity is one that should be very easy for anyone to do. You just peel off the protective backing sheets on the stickers and then position and stick into place. The product states that it is aimed for children ages 5 and up although younger kids may need a little assistance of course.

Why not choose to sit down together as a family and make an ornament an evening? Or you could spread the pieces out and work on them as a group so each member makes a number of these. Just follow the pictures shown on the box packaging to create the fun designs. Older age groups may be able to do this unaided because it is meant to be an easy craft activity.

When all the ornaments are completed, you thread the ribbon through each one to make your long banner for hanging up as part of your festive decorations. Or you could divide this up into smaller banners to make two or three shorter ones for children to hang across their bedroom doors. My daughter has a smaller banner across her (unused) fireplace. You could also turn them into individual ornaments for the tree by using pieces of twine to thread through and hang them instead.

Advent calendars can be a lot of fun to make and now you can create your very own. This Christmas tree already comes with pre-sewn pockets on a tree shaped background. It simply needs to be decorated with numbers from 1 -24 as well as all the other cute looking embellishments and decorations.

All the pieces are peel and stick just the same as the banner design. Even better is, when this is finally made, it can be used to hold candy and small treats for the countdown to Christmas. This aspect makes it a really fun looking design and something that children should also want to finish making too. Once done, you may want to make this even more sturdy and child-proof by sticking it to a wood backing or onto thick cardboard before hanging it on a wall. What will you be making in the run up to the festive season, do let me know.
